I wasn’t sure I wanted to send out emails this week, especially after the low engagement I’ve been getting( you people try ehh), but Fridays are Fridays and I’m a woman of my word 😌
Another thing I was thinking; the elections. Will you bother about this post a day before election? But then you people are not presidential candidates and how many of you have PVCs? Don’t lie. All of you that are shouting on social media, vote this one, don’t vote that one. I’m sure many of you don’t have PVCs.
Time flies terribly fast and we all have to agree it is scary af. I remember when Bubu became our president 8 years ago. I remember my father giving his children the task of helping INEC people count votes. I remember when that guy, what’s his name, Godsday Orubebe, former minister of Niger Delta caused commotion when he told the then INEC chairman, Attahiru Jega that he will not continue the collation of the 2015 presidential election results. We thought Nigeria would be thrown into crisis. I remember Bubu’s re-election like it was yesterday. We’ve been going through shege since then. From strikes to inflation to corruption being at the top of the list. The recession period in 2016 was crazyyy. The terrible economic situation affected the availability of food items and when they were available, the prices were unbelievable. It hasn’t been the same since then. Vegetable soup in my house was a constant thanks to the small farm at the back of our house where we grew fruits and vegetables like tomatoes and spinach. We survived through all of it but do we really have to live like this? Is “suffering and smiling” our motto? We’re on the verge of another election and I’m only praying the most competent of the candidates gets to win.
I just can’t wait until the whole suspense dies down and a president emerges. It doesn’t make any sense to suffer situations that are not even supposed to arise in the first place. This country can give somebody depression, the average Nigerian deserves a medal for surviving through the incessant twisted agenda that the government comes up with every time.
When you go out to vote tomorrow, please vote the one you feel will turn this country around for the better. Consider our journey as a country so far and be rational. We’ve faced so many problems to be voting based on tribalism and religion. Nigeria is built on more. We should know that. It’s why we are not only made of one tribe.
Go out and vote oh because yesterday I almost trekked from Zaria to Kaduna.
Thank you for this dear.
